Dr. Robert M. Cristal is a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which is a specialized form of psychotherapy, along with Stress Management/Relaxation Therapy, Marriage Counseling and Clinical Hypnosis. He also has a Florida License to remotely provide psychological services in the State of Florida, as an out-of-state Telehealth provider.

His practice is devoted to treating children, adolescents, adults and seniors in the context of individual psychotherapy, couple's or marriage therapy, and family therapy.
He began his career as a Clinical Psychologist in a hospital setting more than 30 years ago, in the disciplines of Medical Psychology and General Psychiatry; concurrently, he developed and has since maintained a full-time private practice in Roslyn Heights, New York, on Long Island's North Shore.
Prior to and concurrent with establishing his Roslyn Heights office, Dr. Cristal held appointments on the medical staffs of four Long Island hospitals: in Suffolk County, in the Departments of Psychiatry and Surgery at the University Hospital, SUNY at Stony Brook, New York, and in the Department of Psychology at the VA Medical Center at Northport, New York; and in Nassau County, in the Department of Psychiatry at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, New York, and in the Department of Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, New York. For years prior to his hospital appointments, he had been on the university faculty of Long Island University as an Associate Professor of Psychology.
Dr. Cristal’s main focus in psychotherapy, as a Cognitive Behavior Therapist, is to assist people in obtaining relief from emotional distress and frustrating self-destructive behaviors. This approach places emphasis on achieving real change in thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors so as to yield a notable improvement in one’s quality of life.
